Doing a search online for “Is Your Girlfriend Cheating?” or “Is Your Boyfriend Cheating” brings up a mess of advertising options from sites like Spokeo or InstantCheckmate telling you how you can catch your cheating partner. Now, that’s a really shitty thing to promise us. Because for a second there you think, “Oh wow! They can do that???” Let’s take a look at the first three ads that pop up:
Okay, so having been around the block for a good while now and understanding the ins and outs of public information, I need to let you in on a little secret. These ads are pure garbage and the reason that everyone associates the word “scammy” with these people search bars. The first site, WhoEasy, promises that you’ll be able to “See Who He Called And Texted”. But how though? Well, you’ll need access to their cellphone and permission to look through it. Then you’ll see who he’s calling and texting and have to write down those phone numbers to then look them up on one of these sites. So here’s the conversation: “Hey honey, can I go through your phone for awhile?” Yeah, I didn’t think so. On that note, you know it’s actually illegal to snoop, right?
“Under U.S. law, people have a right to an expectation of privacy, even with close loved ones, Judge Keith Cutler explains. This means that if he hands you his phone and shows you something or leaves his screen unlocked and open where you can obviously see it, he is not expecting it to stay private. Other than that, you have to ask first. It can be frustrating to be with someone who will share a toothbrush with you but not their phone, but ultimately that’s their call to make. (And it’s your call to decide if this is something you can live with in a relationship.)
Things go from murky to straight-up illegal if you guess his passcode, figure it out from watching him, or “hack” it a different way. “If he’s not aware that you know his password, and you have to unlock and open a series of apps on his phone while he’s asleep to find what you’re looking for, you’ve probably crossed the line at that point and have wrongfully invaded his privacy,” Judge Dana Cutler says.” – Shape Magazine Article
WhoEasy is giving you the same BS the other sites are. A bunch of phone numbers that were once registered to them, family/friends/former roommates, and maybe some social media sites they pull up and a speeding ticket from 1998. The only sites that can tell you who they are texting is their damn cell phone company and you need to have access to their account to view calls/texts and find out who they’re talking to.
We can’t tell you if your partner is cheating… I’m pretty sure only a private investigator at $100 an hour can do that. But what I can tell you is to save your money on those sites, because they can’t either.
If you’ve been burned by those sites, I would love if you’d give us a try to see how we’re the opposite of what’s out there and the horse poop info you’re used to. We vet and verify all the info before you ever see it to help you make the best informed decision that you can. Because I believe in peace of mind and keeping yourself safe in your quest for love.
Light and love always,
